"The aim of argument, or of discussion, should not be victory, but progress; and at the heart of every great debate is the courage to remain curious." -Thomas Babington Macaulay
The corridors of intellectual discourse echoed with excellence as students of Shalom Hills International School (SHIS) participated in the prestigious Maha Behes 2025, a national-level debate platform that brought together over 450 participants from across the country. More than just a competition, Maha Behes stands as a revolution of ideas, nurturing critical thinking, articulation, and leadership. Representing the school’s public speaking society, Eloquencia, SHIS students engaged confidently with global issues, employing empirical evidence and rhetorical finesse that truly reflected the Shalomite spirit.
The SHIS delegation delivered a historic performance, especially in the Cubs Division, where Grade VIII students dominated the arena. The exceptional trio of Tegjyot Singh Kohli, Atharva Agarwal, and Ayushman Pandey showcased remarkable teamwork to secure the Overall Runners-Up Trophy. Individual excellence was celebrated with Miraya Gupta being named Overall 2nd Best Speaker and Anaya Kashnia earning the Overall 3rd Best Speaker title. Creativity also took center stage as Aadya Sapra, Idhika Kothidar, and Iknoor Rawal won the Best Team Name award. Overall, the Cubs achieved an impressive haul of 31 medals (9 Gold, 12 Silver, 10 Bronze), with four teams qualifying for the Quarter-Finals.
The Lions Division further fortified SHIS’s reputation, with two teams reaching the Quarter- Finals and one advancing to the Semi-Finals, earning 3 Silver medals in a highly competitive circuit.
This monumental success is a direct reflection of the nurturing ecosystem fostered by our visionary leadership. We owe these laurels to the profound blessings and unwavering support of our Founder, Dr. Mrs. Lilly George, whose heart for student empowerment has made public speaking a cornerstone of our school's identity. Furthermore, the strategic direction and constant encouragement of our Sherpa & Vice Chairman - Mr. Dennis George, have guided us through every challenge, ensuring that our students "scale the peaks" of excellence with integrity. With dedicated mentorship, SHIS remains grounded in its mission to craft daring thinkers and trailblazers who remain curious, ready to take on the world one debate at a time.
