The students selected fiction and non-fiction books of their choice for self reading at home for a week. After that, they were set the task of designing their own cover page of the same book that they had read. As this involved self-creativity, imagination and also a fair amount of inventive thinking, the children were totally immersed in the activity. They gave serious consideration to the contents of the book, its characters, plot in order to come up with appropriate yet attractive book covers. Some of them took different characters from the same book and designed their own.
The students were issued fiction, as well as non-fiction books (depending upon their interest and inclination) for their self study for a week. They had to write a review of what they had read in the book, give some details about the author, title of the book and also what they had liked in that book.
